Green Club Award
[2024-11-09]
The club was officially recognised as a Green Club at GAA headquarters on Saturday and presented with the Green Club pack and flag by Uachtarán CLG Jarlath Burns.
Green team representative Julie Stankard was on hand to receive the award on behalf of the club. To achieve the award the club had to commit to meeting green club parameters across selected initiatives.
Garrycastle selected Biodiversity and Transport initiatives, and established a Green team to oversee the projects. Under Transport, a transformation of the club car park and traffic system around the pitch for easier access for all. Under Biodiversity, the club entrance was enhanced with planting and shrubs put in place by chief gardener, Michael Gantley supported by the Nursery team. Many thanks to the Green team, Michael Gantley, Julie Stankard, Jackie Turley, Seamus Fagan and Trish Dolan.
The club now looks forward to phase 3 of the program.
