Street Leagues 2023!
Garrycastle Street Leagues 2023
On Sunday morning the stars of the future took to the field for the annual end of season games. The teams comprised of a combination of U7 boys & U8 girls on the lower pitch with U9 boys & U10 girls on the main pitch. In all, 123 players made up 16 teams. There was a display of skills and tackles from all involved. The day ended with a parade on the main pitch with the nursery players lead by a piper. It was a fantastic club event. Well done all.
Mentors: Rhoda Costello, Catriona Fagan, Anna Pozarowska, Hazel Hannion, Stella Devine, Mary Leech, John Gaffey, Niall Ward, John Shaughnessy, Niall Lynchehaun, Robbie Plant, Enda Cox & Darren Lennon.
A huge thank you to everyone who came out this afternoon to support the club and take part in our sponsored greenway walk.
Well done to all who took part and thanks to parents for coming along this afternoon, to those who sponsored our underage players over the past couple of weeks and to everyone who helped out today.
It is with tremendous pain and sadness we learned of the untimely passing of Staci Daly (nee Wykes).
A former player with our club from underage to senior, Staci, a talented and skillful footballer, won accolades at all levels, including 2 All-Ireland Féile titles, 2 senior championship titles as well as representing her county numerous times at underage.
All of us in the Garrycastle club extend heartfelt sympathy to Staci’s husband Cathal, her mother Jackie who is a loyal supporter and heavily involved in our club, to Pat, Linda, her grandparents Billy, Imelda & Peggy, to the extended family and to her friends and colleagues. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.

Everyone in Garrycastle GAA would like to wish Hazel Donegan the very, very best of luck in Portugal at the minute representing Ireland!
Hazel is part of the Ireland under-17 soccer squad that will play Poland, Scotland and Portugal over the next two weeks. What an amazing achievement for such a young athlete
We are so proud to have such a fantastic role model for young girls in our club!
Garrycastle GAA Online Bingo is now Closed
We started our Online Bingo in the club in the dark days of the Covid lockdowns on the St. Patrick’s Weekend in 2021, but now, after more than 2 years of online Bingo in Garrycastle GAA Club, a decision has been taken that we will no longer run online Bingo from FRIDAY AUGUST 18th, 2023.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge "Thank you!" to all our regular online players, for your support and encouragement since we began in March 2021. Your support has been of great help to the development of the youth facilities in Garrycastle GAA Club.
Equally, another huge "Thank you!" also to all of those in the club who gave of their time and expertise to make the Online Bingo a success, it couldn’t have happened without a lot of hard work from a great bunch of people.
Well done to the Westmeath Ladies team, who had a comprehensive win over Longford in Pearse Park, Longford in round-2 of the TG4 Intermediate championship on Sunday (June 18th).
Special mention to Garrycastles own Aoife Connolly, who as well as scoring 2-04 on the day, also kicked a '45 meter free, which in Ladies football is worth 2 points.
Aoife makes history as the first ever LGFA player to score two '45-meter frees, an incredible achievement.
Everyone in Garrycastle are super proud of our very own history maker!
Cleachtadh a dhéanann máistreacht - practice makes perfect!
