Under-16 Girls Div. 1 Final
Commiserations to the Garrycastle Under-16 Girls, who lost out to St. Lomans in the Division 1 final played last Wednesday in Lakepoint Park, Mullingar, as a superb St. Lomans side justified their billing as the hottest of hot favourites and won their club their third under-16 Division 1 title in a row. After a slow start Garrycastle worked their way into this game, especially in the second half, winning their individual match-ups all over the field. They were unable to close the scoring gap however, but the Garrycastle girls can hold their heads high, showing that they can be competitive against one of the best underage sides in ladies football.
This is also a young side with all the players who featured in this game with the sole exception of Hazel Donegan having at least one more year at this age group. Huge Thanks are due also to all the parents, guardians and supporters who have followed this team over the season.
Well done and many thanks to Team Manager, Brian Murphy and his backroom team, Ger Griffith, Lydia Hogan, Diarmuid Ó Chluaid and FLO Noelle Murphy. Many thanks to Ganlys for their sponsorship of training tops and to Tormeys Solicitors for sponsorship of kit bags.
