In the final round of this years Division 2 Minor League, a very understrength Garrycastle team were defeated by a determined Caulry team. Missing players on the night due to Leaving Cert exams, Holidays and Gaeltacht trips, the Garrycastle team struggled from the off to make an impression in the game.

Caulry started strongly and had the first few scores, before a point from Brian Ruane got Garrycastle off the mark. Already chasing the game, Garrycastle had no choice but to push forward, but were caught on a number of occasions by quick counter attacks from the home team. They battled on however, and cut the deficit with points from Cathal Mannion and Conor Mulvihill, before the best Garrycastle move of the first half saw Dylan Keegan raise a green flag after some great approach play from Cathal and Conor.

Garrycastle made a number of positional switches at the break, moving Conor to full-forward, and Colm Lynch out to the centre of the field, and these seemed to have paid off when Conor won a penalty after being pulled down after making an excellent high catch. However, Cathal pulled the penalty shot wide of the left-hand post, and the chance to close the gap was wasted. To their credit, the team never gave up, and kept on trying to reduce the deficit, and were rewarded with further points from Brian, Cathal and Conor. However, on the evening the win deservedly went to the home team.
