GARRYCASTLE 1-06, ATHLONE 7-08

Our U14s fine run in this years Feile competition came to an end when they were beaten by a physically stronger Athlone team on Thursday night. The lads were very disappointed afterwards but should take comfort from the fact that it has been 11 years since a Garrycastle team got that far in the competition and getting to the last four is a fine achievement.

The game was played in front of a big crowd in Pairc Ciaran in glorious weather and with a bit more composure in front of goals from our forwards the game could have been closer. With 10 of the panel eligible for next year, this years experience can only help them in the 2015 Feile. A fine Athlone team were certainly very deserved winners but the concession of 3 late goals was harsh on Garrycastle given their efforts on the night. The lads are back in action this Thursday, May 22nd with a home game against Moate in the league which will give them the opportunity to put the disappointment of losing this game behind them.

Panel on Duty on the night:

Patrick McKiernan, Daniel Guinan, Mathias O Neill, Daragh Mulvihill, Dylan Keegan, Cillian Lyons, Andrew Monaghan, Eoin Mulvihill, Joe Carmody, Robert O Brien, Jason Nugent, Brian Ruane, Feargal Mullin, Robert Kelly, Charlie O'Connor, Jack Fitzgerald, Ian Carroll, Mark Kelly, Tommy Stephens.
