Garrycastle 2-13, Caulry 0-8

Garrycastle collected another two points from this home fixture against Caulry on Tuesday night. On a lovely evening for football, Garrycastle had the better of the first half and built up a lead of 2-4 to 0-3. The goals came from Matthew Guiheen (after good work by James Dolan) and Eoin Monaghan from the penalty spot. Caulry made some half time changes which improved their performance but they were unable to contain Dessie Dolan, who kicked a succession of superb points to put the game out of Caulry’s reach. Garrycastle almost got through for a third goal but Michael Monaghan’s effort crashed off the crossbar. In the final quarter three of Garrycastle’s defence got in on the scoring, with points from Cathal Mullin (from a 45), John Gaffey and Doran Harte. This was a good display from Garrycastle but they will be aware that further improvements are needed before the championship begins.
