Garrycastle 9-15 Mullingar Shamrocks 1-2

Our U16’s travelled to Mullingar on Tuesday evening last to play Mullingar Shamrocks in the Championship. This was somewhat of a one sided affair with Shannon Mulvihill opening the score with a goal, with a quick pass from Ciara Sheils This was followed by a point by Erika Lowe. The Garrycastle girls continued to dominate with Rebecca Norris giving good passes that led to scores from Ella Dowling and Ciara Finn. Tegan Foley was outstanding in her mid-field role. Donna Molloy flourished in her half back position. Eimer O Neill and Emily Ruane worked well not allowing the ball back to the Shamrock forwards. Rosin McNamara was a power of strength at full back and this left things easy for Sarah Kelly in goals.  There were some great displays of football from Elaine McGovern, Sarah Carter and Rosin Murphy. Emma Hynes added to the score with a point from an awkward angle. When introduced Shauna Jameson played her defensive role. Overall the girls should be proud of their display, great teamwork with brilliant scores.

The team will be taking a break from Championship football until the end of June to facilitate the Junior cert examinations. Good luck to all.

Training will continue however one night (Monday) for all those not partaking in exams.
