Garrycastle 2-15  Caulry 0-07

After a three week wait the junior championship was resumed and it resulted in a comfortable win for Garrycastle. Played in Garrycastle last Sunday morning the exchanges were even early on but after about ten minutes Garrycastle began to pull away. Showing good cohesiveness in attack Garrycastle created and scored some fine chances. The constant pressure resulted in Caulry conceding a penalty which Cathal Mannion converted. When halftime arrived the home team led by 1-8 to 0-3.

With another 4 Garrycastle points  added in the third quarter making the Garrycastle lead unassailable, the game deteriorated and became pedestrian. With substitutes being introduced by both sides the final quarter was played out with Garrycastle adding 1-3 to Caulry’s 0-4. This game marked Cathal Mannion’s welcome return to competitive action after a long lay-off due to injury. The team has a nice blend of youth and experience which are gelling well. This result leaves Garrycastle at the top of the table with Athlone who have a game more played. Garrycastle’s last game in the group stages is versus Tubberclair.
