Garrycastle 2-12 Shandonagh 3-05

Our Junior side had home advantage on Saturday last when they took on Shandonagh in the quarter final of the championship. Garrycastle started with the wind to their backs and made good use of this in the opening minutes and notched up 2 early points. Garrycastle continued to pile on pressure and had 5 points on the board but Shandonagh pulled this back when they goaled. The half closed with Garrycastle leading by 0-9 to 1-2.

The second half opened with Shandonagh taking control and finding the net yet again. This was followed by good end to end football with both sides taking their scores and exchanging the lead. It was all tied with 10 minutes to go but a strong finish from Garrycastle saw them win out by 4 points and earn their place in the semifinal on Friday next 30th August against Loughnavalley. This was a very good performance from this young side with great defending all through, good work at midfield and finishing well up front.
