This game, played on Saturday last in Garrycastle, slipped away from the home team during a long period of injury time. When the levelling score was kicked two minutes into injury time and with no further score for 3 minutes we expected the final whistle. However, play continued and Kilucan got two late points to win by two.

Playing with the wind in the first half Garrycastle had a lot of possession thanks to a dominant display by Jonny McGuire, but the forwards couldn’t get the scores to match and led by only three points,  0-5 to 0-2, at halftime.

On one Kilucan attack only heroic defending kept the ball out of the net. Kilucan started the second half strongly scoring the first 2 points before the locals scored. Then Kilucan  had a purple patch and built  up a 4 point lead but Garrycastle responded immediately and with the help of an Andrew Monaghan goal levelled with 6 minutes to go. A late Kilucan point gave them them the lead going into injury time.

It was a competitive game all through with some good football being played but equally there were plenty of signs of rust.
