Garrycastle 2-27 Cill Óige 1-00

The Garrycastle under-12 team played their second match in the league part of the Jim McHugh tournament in garrycastle on Monday evening, against Cill Óige, which is a combined Rosemount and Castledaly side. On a perfect evening for football we had 22 togged out in the Red and Green.

From the outset, the Garrycastle team dominated this game all over the pitch, giving the visitors no chance to make an impact. There were some excellent team scores taken by the home side, but there were also a large number of wides in front of goal, which could prove costly in a tighter game.

Overall, though, this was a great squad performance, with all players present getting to play part of the game. Probably to be expected, a little bit of complacency set in as the game progressed, and the Garrycastle players over carried the ball on occasion, when a faster pass would have reaped better rewards. In addition, the marking at times was lax, and so despite the comfortable win, there are still some things to work on in training.

Garrycasstle panel on the evening:  Conor McCormack, Cian Norris, Kasey Mulvihill, Oisin Mulvihill, Van McCay, Rian Gaynor, Killian Keegan (0-1), David Carter (0-2), Niadh Shine, Andrew Henson (0-6), Sean O'Donoghue (0-2), Tom Sheehan (0-1), Aaron Keegan (0-5), James McHugh (0-3), Kealan McNamara, Dylan Frawley, Nathan McKeon (1-1), Anthony Mannion (1-0), Jack Dolan (0-2), Christopher Malone, Calum Hudson (0-2), Darragh Glennon (0-2).
