Garrycastle 3-6 Moate All-Whites 2-6

This was an excellent opening to 2017 season with both sides starting brightly after the winter hibernation.  Garrycastle took control of this game midway through the first half with a great goal from Diarmuid Murtagh and went into the second half with the lead. Moate pushed very hard in the second half and converted some well taken scores of their own. The Garrycastle defence held firm with Con O'Hara particularly impressive and saw out the win with a goal to spare. This was a valuable exercise for both sides as preparation for the Westmeath U12 league.
