Under 16 League (Div 3)

Garrycastle under 16s delivered a second underage league title to the club in the space of week by virtue of a hard earned win over Tubberclair on Sunday last. This came in addition to a victory over Moate All Whites the week before.

In truth Garrycastle were slow starting in this game and found ourselves wasting lots of good possession and struggling to get any real flow to our attack. However once the lads settled into the game we started to pick of scores through Andrew Monaghan, Dylan Keegan and Darragh Kenna. The standout feature of the first half was the defence who were superbly marshalled by Daniel Guinan. Ryan Cornallys energy and ball carrying ability really helped in linking up defence and attack allowing Garrycastle to establish a four point half time lead.

The second half was much better from Garrycastle and with the direct early ball into Charlie O Connor and Shane Coffey proving a threat Garrycastle added further points and also a great goal from Darragh Kenna.

Dermot Carey helped to keep the defence strong and with Daniel McManus and Dylan Keegan getting on top in midfield Garrycastle finished the game strong adding the  further points needed to secure the league title.  The final score was Garrycastle 3-8 Tubberclair 1-6

Well done to all the panel members who contributed excellently to this league campaign. It was excellent to see a panel of 24 players available for this game. One would hope that this team will have a great chance of making an impact in championship if they put the work in on the training field over the next few weeks.
