Garrycastle under 16s recorded their second win in championship on Monday last with victory over St Marys Rotchfordbridge.

On the back of another excellent victory versus Maryland/Tang this result now puts Garrycastle into the under 16 Division 1 quarter final.

After a lively start from both teams the first half was brought to a halt after an injury to Rotchfordbridge midfielder Shane Whelan. As it was an neck injury an ambulance had to be called and all at Garrycastle wish Shane a speedy recovery.

The stoppage in play meant both teams took a while to find their flow again but Garrycastle finished the half with points from Andrew Monaghan, Darragh Kenna and a superb goal from Nathan Breslin given us a slender half time lead.

Garrycastle really upped the ante in the second half  with Daniel Guinan,Eoghan Keogh and Cian Dowling manning the defence in front of the ever reliable Eric Rodgers .This gave the  forwards  the platform to play some excellent football.Points came from Charlie O Connor, Nathan Breslin,Dylan Keegan and Andrew Monaghan and the result was settled when Luke Clinton rattled the net with a super finish. Final Score Garrycastle 3-11 St Marys Rotchfordbridge 1-11

Well done to all the lads on a super win. This was one of the first times this year we had everyone available for selection and results have proved this team can compete with the best teams in the county. The reward is a county quarter final against Coralstown Kinnegad on Monday next (AUG 28TH) in Kinnegad and we wish the lads all the best.
