Garrycastle 3-5 Kilbeggan/Joseph’s 2-4

This was a very entertaining game of football with both sides enjoying their dominant spells in the game.  Kilbeggan started the stronger and opened with a goal in the first few minutes and this was followed by further pressure by the Kilbeggan forwards but the Garrycastle defence held firm with Mathew Conor very much dominating his goal and making some very good saves. Garrycastle then put some good passages of play together working the ball forward from midfield and started to get the scores on the board including points from Diarmaid Murtagh and Conor Sheehan. This was followed by a really well worked goal from Sean O'Donoghue.  Kilbeggan came back and scored a goal of their own leaving Garrycastle trailing by two points at the break.

Garrycastle upped their performance significantly in the second half especially in the middle third of the pitch where Brian Mulvihill and Tom Daly in particular were securing valuable possession. This gave the advantage to the Garrycastle forwards and goals followed from Than McCay and Conor Sheehan allowing Garrycastle to pull clear going into the last quarter of the game. Kilbeggan applied significant pressure towards the end of the game but the Garrycastle defence held firm and secured the win with four points to spare.
