Garrycastle  added two valuable points to their tally last week defeating Kilbeggan Shamrocks. This was a game that Garrycastle  threatened to build up a sizeable lead but were pegged back by Kilbeggan goals each time. After a bright start with points from Robbie Fox, Robbie  Shine and Cathal Mannion  as well as a goal from Tom O’Halloran, got and scored the first of their penalties.   A Cathal Mannion  point was answered by a Kilbeggan point before Kilbeggan got their second successful penalty leaving the scores tied. Kilbeggan took the lead with a point before Tom O’Halloran got his second goal and a Jonathan Maguire point left the halftime score at 2-5 to 2-2 in favour of Garrycastle.  An early second half goal from Paul Mulvihill and a Tom O’Halloran point built up a seven point lead when Kilbeggan scored their third goal. A Robbie Shine goal restored the seven point lead but this was shortlived as Kilbeggan replied with a goal almost straight away. Two Cathal Mannion  points and one each from Robbie Shine and Tom O’Halloran completed Garrycastle ‘s scoring giving them a six point lead but two late points from Kilbeggan reduced the margin to four.

Enda Keena was the stand out player in defence, Jonathan Maguire,  in midfield and up front Cathal Mannion  and Tom O’Halloran were excellent.
