St. Loman’s 1-16   Garrycastle 0-8

County champions St. Loman’s came to Garrycastle on Saturday evening and inflicted an 11-point defeat on the home team. With county players on both sides ruled out, Garrycastle were also missing some other key players but competed well in the opening half. After falling three points behind, good scores from Seanie O’Donoghue, Gary McCallon and Michael Monaghan brought them level after 22 minutes. However, Loman’s finished the half well and added three points to lead by 0-7 to 0-4 at half time. They stretched their lead to five points after the break before Michael Monaghan reduced the deficit but that was to be his team’s only score in the third quarter as the visitors took control. They notched a succession of points followed by a goal from a penalty, with Garrycastle struggling all over the field. Garrycastle can take few positives from this display but luckily there is plenty of time to put things right before the next championship match.

Garrycastle: Mark Keenan, Jack Donohue, John Gaffey, Anthony Larkin, Bill Kelly, Doron Harte, Gary McCallon (0-1), Justin Barrett, Neill Rattigan, Michael Monaghan (0-3), Seanie O’Donoghue (0-1), Johnny McGuire, Eoin Monaghan (0-2, 1 free), Conor Cosgrove, Tom O’Halloran.
