Garrycastle 0-13  St. Mary’s Rochfortbridge 0-10

Garrycastle’s third team collected two hard-earned points from this home fixture last Friday. Some light rain made conditions somewhat difficult but the two sides served up a decent game, with never more than a few points separating the teams. Both sides created plenty of scoring opportunities but Garrycastle were marginally sharper in their finishing, with almost all their scores coming from open play, especially from the accurate boot of Robbie Shine. After leading by 0-7 to 0-4 at the break, Garrycastle had to withstand a spirited challenge from the visitors in the second half. St. Mary’s cut the deficit to the minimum in the last quarter but late points from Enda Keena and Robbie Shine (2) assured their team of a welcome victory. Best displays on the evening came from Tom McHugh, Emmet Ward, Frank Farrell, Rory McGowan and Robbie Shine, while each of the substitutes made a useful contribution when introduced.

Garrycastle:  Mark Keenan, Bill Kelly, Tom McHugh, Emmet Ward, Frank Farrell, Mark Curley, Enda Keena (0-1), Rory McGowan (0-2, 1 free), Anthony Larkin, Brian Carty, Kenny Dolan (0-1), Brian McCormack, Noel Galvin, Robbie Shine (0-6), Cathal Mannion (0-3).

Subs: Peadar Mulvihill for Mannion (injured), Paul Gunning for McCormack, Conor Duignan for Galvin and Ross Mulvihill for Carty.
