Garrycastle were comprehensively defeated at home on Thursday evening last by Rosemount in this Division 6 encounter. The home team struggled at times during the match to contain the Rosemount side who were capable of finding scores at will. In contrast Garrycastle seemed to be limited in their attacking options and the only real threat came from Tom O’Halloran who scored 1-2 on the day. Rosemount led by 1-2 after 10 minutes before the Keena brothers, first Emmet and Enda delivered points for the home team. Garrycastle’s only other score was a pointed free by Tom O’Halloran before half time to leave the score at the break 1-6 to 0-3 to the visitors.
The second half started well with O’Halloran pointing but Rosemount upped their game and added a goal and three points to their tally before Tom O’Halloran netted for the home side. The loss of Tom McHugh to a black card did not help the Garrycastle cause and Rosemount continued to add on scores. The final Garrycastle score was a well taken point by substitute Ross Mulvihill.
All in all this was a match that Garrycastle will want to forget and will look to improve on in their next scheduled game in this Division.
