ACL Division 3

Garrycastle’s second team had a bad start to their Division 3 campaign when they were well beaten by The Downs in Garrycastle last Saturday.
Even with the help of the wind in the first half the home team played second fiddle in most areas and trailed by 1-3 to 0-2 at half time. There was some improvement in the second half but the visitors’ lead was never seriously threatened. The Downs showed more teamwork and determination and kicked some good points, especially in the second half. Few Garrycastle players will have happy memories of this performance and a big improvement will be needed in future games.
We wish Stephen McGuire a speedy recovery from the injury that forced him out of action in the second half.
Garrycastle: Shane McEnery, Sean Carey, Tom McHugh, Alan Fox, Brian Carty, Stephen McGuire, Enda Keena, Noel Galvin (0-2, frees), Liam Flynn, Brian McCormack, Alex Gardiner (0-2), Emmet Keena, Kevin Hogan, Tom O’Halloran (0-1), Paul Mulvihill.
Subs: Darragh Brody for Emmet Keena; Conor Molloy for Hogan (injured); Brian Leahy for McGuire (injured) and John O’Shaughnessy for Mulvihill.
