The seniors collected a second brace of league points from this home fixture against Rosemount last Sunday morning. An early goal finished clinically by Johnny McGuire, following great work by Frank Farrell and Michael Monaghan, gave the home team a good start and they went on to lead by 1-8 to 0-5 at half time.
They held this lead comfortably for most of the second period but some slackness in the last ten minutes led to the concession of a goal and point which could have been costly in other circumstances. Nevertheless, it was another encouraging display on a heavy pitch, with some of the younger players putting down markers for the coming season. Unfortunately, our youngest player Bill Kelly, didn’t get a chance to show his undoubted potential, having to leave the field after sustaining a head injury in the opening minutes. No doubt his will have other opportunities in the coming weeks.
TEAM: Sean Brennan, Gary Mullery, John Gaffey, Anthony Larkin, Frank Farrell, Mark McCallon, Bill Kelly, Mark Curley, Doran Harte, Matthew Guiheen (0-1), Damien Rushe, Justin Barrett (0-1), Michael Monaghan (0-4), Conor Cosgrove (0-4, 2 frees), Johnny McGuire (1-1).
Subs: Gary McCallon (0-2), Tom OHalloran, Neill Rattigan, Enda Keena, Cathal Mannion and Kenny Dolan.
