Garrycastle 6-12  Killucan 1-4

The under 16’s got back to winning ways with a victory over Killucan. The first half proved to be a tight affair, with Garrycastle going in two points up at the break 1.5 to 1.3. However, with the aid of the breeze and with an increased work rate, the lads took control in the second half. Jack O’Connor opened the scoring for Garrycastle with a couple of frees. Ian Carroll beat the Killucan keeper and full back to a high ball to score the opening goal of the game, Ian would follow this up in the second half with two further goals, and he also won a penalty which was expertly converted by Jack O’Connor, who finished the game with an impressive 2.6. Brian Ruane, Phillip Monaghan and Colm Lynch all chipped in with points, while Oisin Langan scored an excellent goal with one of his trademark solo runs. Dylan Keegan created a number of scores and proved to be a real handful for his marker. Jack Fitzgerald had an impressive debut in goals, while Robert Kelly, Mattius O‘Neill, Patrick McKiernan, Conor Macken, Eoin Mulvihill and Cillian Lyons were excellent defensively, in particular in the second half, conceding only one point.
