Moate All Whites 4-6  Garrycastle 1-7

Garrycastle Under 14 team put up a brave performance against Moate in Division 1B of the Under 14 league in Garrycastle on Thursday last. Garrycastle playing with the aid of the breeze in the first half scored some nice points from play and from frees from Fergal Mullin and Dylan Keegan but were rocked when Moate got through for two goals to leave the half time score Moate 2-2 to Garrycastle 0-4. Garrycastle’s defence were playing well and ensured that the forwards were getting plenty of ball and Garrycastle efforts were rewarded when Tommy Devery hit the Moate net with a goal to bring Garrycastle team back into contention. Unfortunately for Garrycastle, Moate got through for two more goals to win by eight points.

This was very much improved performance from the team on their previous outing with goalkeeper Michael Dooley making some fine saves throughout the hour. The full back line of Joseph Henson, Ryan Cornally, and Cian Dowling defended heroically throughout the hour. The half back line of Cathal Redmond, Dylan Keegan and Tommy Stephens cut out numerous threats from Moate  and were linking up well with the forwards. The midfield pairing of Daniel Guinan and Fergal Mullin covered a serious amount of ground and their work rate was excellent. The half forward line of James Murphy, Ben Kilkenny and Luke Clinton all showed well for the ball and worked hard both in attack and in defence. The full forward line of Daniel Mc Manus, Tommy Devery and Saumil Sharma won plenty of possession and laid of a few fine passes which led to scores.

Garrycastle: Michael Dooley, Joseph Henson, Ryan Cornally, Cian Dowling, Cathal Redmond, Dylan Keegan(0-4),Tommy Stephens, Daniel Guinan, Fergal Mullin(0-3),James Murphy, Ben Kilkenny, Luke Clinton, Daniel McManus, Tommy Devery, Saumil Sharma

Hopefully going forward and with the return of a few players from injury the team can build on this performance .
