Under 14 League

Garrycastle Under 14 team got their league campaign under way when they were defeated by a much stronger Shannon Gaels team in Garrycastle on Thursday night last. Garrycastle had the aid of the breeze  in the first half  and started brightly with two fine long range points from frees  by  Fergal Mullin and another fine point from play by Daniel Mc Manus. The Garrycastle defence was constantly been threatened by Shannon Gaels in the first half but with excellent defending by goalkeeper Michael Dooley  and all six backs they managed to keep the threat to a minimum. Garrycastle got a boost when a long range kick from Fergal Mullin ended up in the Shannon Gaels net and a further fine point from Andrew Monaghan gave Garrycastle a  one point lead at half time on a scoreline of Garrycastle 1-5 to Shannon Gaels 2-1.

Garrycastle were unfortunate to lose two of our excellent defenders Daniel Guinan and Robert O Brien through injury at half time and it was always going to be an uphill battle as Shannonn Gaels had the aid of the breeze in the second half. However, Garrycastle introduced some substitutions at half time and the team battled hard and never gave up and it was Shannon Gaels overall strength  that  won the game on the day.

The following panel of  players all played their part in the game : Michael Dooley, Cian Dowling, Ryan Cornally , Nathan Breslin, Robert O Brien, Daniel Guinan, Dylan Keegan, Andrew Monaghan, Fergal Mullin, James Murphy, Darragh Kenna, Luke Clinton, Cathal Redmond, Daniel Mc Manus, Tommy Stephens, Jason Mannion, Tommy Devery ,Joseph Henson and Saumil Sharma.

We wish Robert O Brien & Daniel Guinan a speedy recovery from their injuries.
