Under 10

The Garrycastle under-10 squad had another busy week of football, with a trip to Cusack Park and a further round of the Tormeys Solicitors / Clann na nGael league. On Monday, we travelled to Westmeath football headquarters in Cusack Park for the final blitz round of the county under-10 league. On the night, we fielded two teams, playing against Killucan and Coralstown/Kinnegad. In both matches, the Garrycastle lads started well, and led from start to finish, taking two well-deserved wins. As always it generated great excitement among the assembled players (and parents!) to play in the county ground, and huge thanks are due to the Westmeath GAA games development for this excellent initiative.

On Friday, we welcomed near neighbours Athlone to Garrycastle for the penultimate round of the Tormeys Solicitors / Clann na nGael league. On a truly miserable night for football, two great games of football were played, as the rain fell steadily, and ball control was made difficult by the soft ground. After a great football battle, played in a proper football spirit, it ended honours even, with one win each for Garrycastle and Athlone.

There is more football ahead for the Under-10 group, as the Castledaly league is now starting up also. Garrycastle are drawn in a group also containing the Moate All-Whites, Kilbeggan/St. Josephs and Maryland/Tang. Full details of fixtures will be texted out to all parents as usual.
