KILBEGGAN/St. JOSEPHS 6-09, GARRYCASTLE 0-09

Match played: 9th September.

A depleted Garrycastle side travelled to Streamstown and were well beaten by a motivated and determined Kilbeggan/St.Joseph’s combination, who should be commended on going from the Division 3 League to qualifying for the Division 1 Championship as a result of this victory.

Brian Ruane opened the scoring with a point following some good build up play, but Kilbeggan responded with 2-02. Cathal Redmond scored a well taken point, while Andrew Monaghan and Jack O’Connor chipped in with points of their own. Matters got worse for Garrycastle when Jack Fitzgerald went off injured, but Dylan Keegan, Daniel Guinan and Mattias O’Neill never gave up and worked extremely hard in the middle to try and contain the frequent attacks, but it was a tough first half and we went in at half time 5-05 to 0-05 down.

The second half performance was much improved, lead by Eoin Mulvihill, Brian Ruane and Colm Henry. There were  also good performances from Dylan Keegan and Andrew Monaghan. Brian Ruane scored a couple of points while Philip Monaghan closed the game out with a well taken point at the end. A big thanks to the under 14 lads who helped us out on the night, Daniel Guinan, Cathal Redmond, Andrew Monaghan, Dylan Keegan and Robert O’Brien, and all the lads would like to wish Jack Fitzgerald a speedy recovery.
