Match played: 24th August.

Jack O’Connor opened the scoring for Garrycastle with a pointed free, before Shamrocks replied with 2 points of their own. Mattias O’Neill, Eoin Mullvihill and Conor Macken were having very good games in defence, while Ian Carroll and Enda Malone were showing well up front. A great solo run from Brian Ruane found Jack O’Connor whose quick pass into Oisin Langan delivered the first Garrycastle goal. A great interception from Shane Duffy lead to an excellent Philip Monaghan point, putting Garrycastle 2 up. Shamrocks fought back and scored 4 unanswered points and it could have been worse only for an excellent Matthew McBride save. Colm Lynch stemmed the tide with Garrycastle’s second goal of the night shortly before half time.

Jack O’Connor started the second half as he started the first with a pointed free following some good work by Patrick McKiernan. However, Shamrocks responded with a goal of their own to level the game. It was a nip and tuck affair after that with both team trading points. Garrycastle could have nicked it at the end only for a very well saved penalty, but all in all a draw was a fair result and a good decent performance from the lads despite a few injuries.
