St. Loman’s 0-11       Garrycastle 0-3

For the first time since 1999 Garrycastle will not be involved in the knock-out stage of the senior championship after this very disappointing display against Loman’s in Cusack Park last Sunday. On a miserable evening for football Loman’s started well with the aid of the breeze, kicking two early points. Conor Cosgrove opened Garrycastle’s account following a good diagonal delivery by Matthew Guiheen but there was little good approach play from Garrycastle for the remainder of the game. Loman’s continued to play the more constructive football and led by 0-6 to 0-2 at the break. Garrycastle needed a good start to the second half but three pointed frees from Loman’s were the only scores in the third quarter. Gary McCallon kicked a good point from play but Loman’s lead was never threatened and the goal that Garrycastle badly needed never looked likely. The only positive memory from a Garrycastle point of view was the tremendous ovation given to Dessie Dolan when he went off injured in the second half. Dessie has been carrying a serious injury all summer and is due to undergo surgery in the coming weeks. Everyone in the club wishes him well.
