Garrycastle’s third team travelled to Moate’s Hogan Park last Saturday hoping for two league points to help them retain their Division 6 status. The home team were unable to muster a team and had to concede the points. However, they had their Under 21 squad available and agreed to play a challenge game. This proved to be an enjoyable game with plenty of good scores from both sides. Garrycastle led at half time by 1-8 to 0-6 but the home team made good use of the wind in the second period and held a three point lead as full time approached. Garrycastle responded with two late points and had a chance to level in injury time but the All-Whites held on to win by a point on a score-line of 2-14 to 1-16.

Garrycastle: Colman Gantley, Darragh Brody, Tom McHugh, Ben Kennedy, Frank Farrell, Mark Curley, Bill Kelly, Johnny McGuire (0-1), Anthony Larkin, Noel Galvin (0-1), Cathal Mannion (0-5), Enda Keena (1-1), Emmet Keena (0-1), Kenny Dolan (0-3), Peadar Mulvihill (0-2).

Subs: Paul Gunning  (0-2) for Emmet Keena; Sean Gunning for Brody, Eddie Farrell for Frank Farrell (injured); Ross Mulvihill for McGuire; Mark Denby for Kelly; Donal Byrne for P. Mulvihill; Brian Leahy for Kennedy.
