Under-14 Championship (Div. 2)

Our U14s travelled to Milltownpass on a wet and miserable Tuesday evening last for the latest game in the Championship and were fortunate to come away with a draw after putting in a very flat performance on the night. Were it not for an outstanding performace from Patrick McKieran in goal the game would most certainly have been lost.

The first half was a poor affair with Garrycastle guilty of kicking the ball short into the Milltownpass goalies hands on numerous occasions. The half ending 1-03 a piece with the Garrycastle goal coming from an excellent penalty kick from Brian Ruane.

We struggled to get into the game in the second half with the very poor underfoot conditions playing a part but showed excellent desire and composure in the last 10 Mins to get back into a game that seemed lost with two brilliant goals from Ian Carroll and Joe Carmody.Milltownpass took the lead again with 2 minutes remaining with a soft free but the lads worked the ball all the way up to the Milltownpass 14 yard line from Patrick's kickout for Joe Carmody to kick a point and draw the game.

The lads know this performance will not be good enough in the upcoming county semi final but having played poorly we can still take positives that will stand to the team going forward.
