Ballycomoyle made the long journey to Garrycastle on Tuesday evening and started the game with just 14 players while they awaited the arrival of an additional player. While Balycomoyle started in reasonable shape, they even levelled the score at 1-2 a piece in the 13th minute, they were subsequently outclassed and fell to a very heavy defeat. Garrycastle made full use of the additional personnel and lead by 6-8 to 1-2 at the break. From the mid-point of the half, Garrycastle showed their footballing ability and hit the visitors for six goals, a hat trick for Paul Mulvilill and one each for Stephen McGuire, Alex Gardiner and Noel Galvin.

The second period was much the same with the home side dominating and hitting over points and scoring goals almost at will. It is very hard to judge Garrycastle on this performance because in truth Ballycomoyle struggled to make an impact in all sectors. The performances of Gary Mullery, Mark Curley and Ben Kennedy were notable. Alex Gardiner, Paul Mulvihill, Padraig Cosgrove and substitute, Robbie Fox, were most prominent in attack.

GARRYCASTLE: Shane O’Connell, Gary Mullery, Mark Curley, Cathal Murray, Stephen McGuire (1-0), Anthony Larkin, Ben Kennedy, Robbie Shine, Noel Galvin (1-0), Enda Keena (0-3), Padraig Cosgrove (0-1), Alex Gardiner (1-7, 0-1f), Paul Gunning (1-1), Conor Cosgrove (0-2), Paul Mulvihill (3-3).

SUB: Robbie Fox (1-2) for R Shine (43 min); Sean Carey for C Murray (34 min); Kenny Dolan (0-1) for C Cosgrove (36 min); Peadar Mulvihill (0-1) for Paul Mulvihill (40 min) and Colman Gantley for S McGuire (40 min).
