This match which was played in windy conditions in Garrycastle on Sunday morning was a hard fought contest between two sides who as well as playing for League points were also playing for Feis Cup points as agreed prior to the game.

Garrycastle were first off the mark with a point from captain Mark McCallon. This was added to by Michael Monaghan who got on to the end of a speculative ball from Sean Brennan. The visitors then got off the mark to reduce the deficit to one point. Next to score was Gary McCallon playing at half forward on the day. Bunbrosna replied with a point to keep the margin between the teams to the minimum. Sean Brennan went close for Garrycastle but collided with the Bunbrosna 'keeper who suffered an injury which would eventually lead to him being replaced before the end of the first half. Garrycastle then had their best spell of the game in the last 10 minutes of the half. Justin Barrett pointed followed by a Damien Rushe point. Then a free kick from Seanie O'Donoghue found Damien Rushe and he finished to the net to put clear daylight between the teams. James Duignan pointed a free just before the break to leave the half-time score at 1-6 to 0-3.

The second half saw Garrycastle maintain their dominance and they added to their tally with a well taken point by teenager Michael Monaghan. James Duignan pointed another free and Michael Monaghan then got his third and Garrycastle's ninth point of the day. With 10 minutes gone in the second half Bunbrona had still just four points on the board. For the next 15 minutes neither side managed a score and Garrycastle introduced a number of subs and it was on these subs, Aidan Browne who was next on the score board for the home team. Bunbrosna then made a late surge with about 5 minutes remaining they managed to double their score and add four more points before Referee Pat Fox called time.

Overall this was a satisfactory performance by Garrycastle who were missing their county players on the day. Damien Rushe was very effective and creative especially in the first half and with Michael Monaghan was best of the forwards on show. Midfield held the upper hand for the most part and the defence were very alert and played well as a unit.
