Our under 21s lost the first round of the under 21 championship to Moate All Whites on Tuesday of last week. An understrength team battled hard and fought back very well  but were beaten by a good Moate team. Among the absentees were  were Jack Donohoe (holidays) Sean Carey & Michael Fagan (injured,) Barry Ruane  and Eric Kearney (America).  In the early exchanges Paul Gunning came in at the end of a good move to score a very good goal. However this was quickly matched by a Moate goal. Moate had the better of the exchanges until half time and led by 4 points at the break. On the resumption a Moate goal broke Garrycastle hearts and left them with a mountain to climb.  To their credit they didn’t lie down and fought back with great gusto.  They reduced the lead to four points when they got a penalty following a foul on Mark Curley  which Eoin Monaghan blasted over the bar. A further point reduced the margin to two points when the final whistle was blown.  This was a disappointing result however there were good performances from Frank Farrell, Cian White, Terry Rushe, Justin Barrett  &  Mark Curley.

GARRYCASTLE: Mark Keenan, Ronan Donohoe, Cian White, Frank Farrell, David Brougham, Gary McCallon, Terry Rushe, Justin Barrett, Michael Monaghan,  Evan Dalton,  Alec Gardiner, Mark Curley,  Paul Gunning, Eoin Monaghan, Enda Keena.
Subs: Conor Duignan for D Brougham (injured); Kenny Dolan for E Dalton: Stephen Brennan. Eoin Slevin.
