Our final under-8 county orgainised football blitz for this year took place on Saturday morning in St. Malachys, Ballinagore. This was a relatively long journey and early start on a Saturday morning for our under-8 squad, and on the day we had a smaller number than usual of players travelling, with 19 players making the trip.

As is usual we played two teams, one mostly at under-8 age group, and a younger team made up of under-7 and under-6 players. In total we played 4 matches against the host club St. Malachys, St. Marys from Rochfortbridge, and Tubberclair. In all 4 matches, the teams played with great enthusiasm, energy and skill, and represented themselves, their families and their club with great distinction. As has been the hallmark of our under-8 age group this year, both teams displayed great skill in kicking, tackling and blocking, and this must augur well for the underage structure in Garrycastle over the coming years.
Squad on the day:
Nathan Kelly, Jack Allen, Jamie Carroll, Diarmuid Murtagh, Tom Daly, Kyle Greene, David Carter, Oisin Nugent, Oisin Deeney, Conn O'Hara, James McHugh, Killian Redmond, Cian Norris, Niadh Shine, Adam Lennon, Matthew Hardiman, Rian Gaynor, Keelan Ward, Andrew Henson.
Team pictures etc. may be found on the Under-8 webpage
Huge thanks to the mentors, parents and grandparents who travelled to Ballinagore, and who provided great support and encouragement to the young players. It really does make a huge difference!

Our thanks also to John and the other organisers in St. Malachys for an excellent blitz, and for the much appreciated refreshments at the end.
