Under 10

The Garrycastle under-10 squad headed to Athlone for the latest round of County Under-10 blitzes on Tuesday evening. On the warmest evening of the year, we had a much smaller number of players than usual, due to summer holidays and various summer activities.

In the first round of games, Garrycastle played Tubberclair. Both teams started strongly, and the lead changed hands on three occasions up to the half-time break. In the second half, Garrycastle used all their substitutes to give everyone a game, and this allowed the Tubberclair team to open up a small lead, and they held on until the end to win the game.

In the second round of matches, Garrycastle played Athlone. This was a a great game between two very evenly matched squads, with the Garrycastle lads holding a single score advantage at the break. Again, all of the substitutes were introduced for the second half, and the game continued at breakneck speed, with Athlone edging the match by a single score at the end.

Overall, even though unsuccessful on the evening, this was a good workout for the Garrycastle lads. With only two under-10 players available, this was a very young squad, and they can take great pride in how well they played, and the skill levels and enthusiasm on display.

Squad: Niadh Shine, Calum Hudson, Oisin Mulvihill, Darragh Glennon, James McHugh, Andrew Henson, Christian Turean, Cian Norris, Jack Allen, Rian Gaynor, David Carter, Dylan Frawley, Keelan Ward, Aaron Keegan, Kealan McNamara.
