At a recent event hosted by the Garrycastle U12 Management team the achievements of these young men was recognised for their commitment to training and development during the year.

Matches, Tournaments & League achievements:

  • Ballinalee Invitational Tournament - a great display of football to come out on top beating the Longford Champions to win the Tournament.
  • League winners - fulfilling all fixtures with an average of 20 players per game and finishing with a scoring average of approximately 5-11 per game.

  • Outright winners of the Jim McHugh Tournament this year with an average of 20 players per game.

This is the first time the club have secured the McHugh Perpetual Cup since its inception, so credit to this group of young men for their efforts. They now take their place in the clubs history book!

Both the Ballinalee Invitational Trophy and The Jim McHugh Cup were on display with players and family treated to food during a medal ceremony in the new club facilities.

Two awards were also presented on the night:
  1. Most Improved player - This award went to Dylan Frawley, who showed exemplary attitude throughout the year, with an application and dedication to training, willingness to learn and an all-round positive attitude.

  2. Player of The Year - This award went to the player who went above and beyond the call of duty on and off the pitch, did every task asked of him by management with diligence and professionalism and showed what perfecting your skills is all about. That award went to Van McCay, and by all accounts was a worthy winner among his teammates.
Special thanks to Dessie Dolan and Conor Cosgrove who presented the awards on the night and who both offered some inspirational words on the value of hard work and building lasting friendships through sports and the GAA.
I'm sure we would all agree they both speak from experience and hopefully those words will resonate with this team.

Finally a special thanks to all the parents for their commitment to their sons development on the field. Without the efforts of each and every one of them it would be very difficult for the Management Team to build a team.
