Scor na nOg

Our representatives in the scor na nOg finals performed extremely well on Sunday last but unfortunately were unsuccessful against very stiff competition.

Our ballad group and recitation group travelled to Ballymore on Sunday last to participate in the County Final of Scor na Nog. This was a very competitive competition with very high standards in all disciplines. Our ballad group consisted of Rhianna Lowe (busy weekend for Rhianna after all her excitement on the Late Late show with her family), Molly Galvin, Amy McGuinness, Shauna Jameson and Grace Crehan Dohney. The girls performed brilliantly but were pipped by Moate who progress to the Leinsters. Our recitation was performed by Killian Redmond. Killian preformed a piece called 'Soda Bread'. He was brilliant but it wasn't his year. We didn't come away with any medals, but they can be proud of themselves and for representing Garrycastle at this level. Thanks a million to Ellen Glennon for all her hard work and dedication over the past months and for getting to this level in the competition. The ballad group would also like to thank the McGuinness Family for freeing up their home for practice.
