Reminder that the Garrycastle GAA Club AGM for 2020 is rescheduled to Friday, January 29th 2021, at 7.30pm. 
GAA HQ have requested clubs to hold their AGM remotely over the Internet using Microsoft Teams due to Covid-19 restrictions. 
All club members entitled to attend the AGM have been emailed at their registered email addresses during the past week. Those who wish to attend the AGM are requested to confirm their intention by sending an email to the club secretary by SUNDAY JANUARY 17th, 2021
If you are a club member, and have not received an email, please contact the club secretary at their official email address: 
An email invite with directions on how to use Teams will then be sent out on January 24th to those who confirm that they wish to attend the AGM.

The Jackpot was not won. 

There were three Match-3 winners this week, each of whom receives €35.

Covid-19 Restrictions

The following advice has been received by the club from the GAA. 
Advice to Clubs and Counties – for activities post Dec 31st, 2020, until further notice. 
1. Club Games and Training 
In level 5 and under the current restrictions in the North, individual training only is permitted – neither adult nor underage teams may train collectively. 
GAA club grounds must stay closed. 
Club games are not permitted. 
2. Use of Indoor Team Facilities 
Dressing rooms, showers and all other indoor training facilities should remain closed for club activities. 
Club Gyms must remain closed until further notice. 
3. Committee Meetings 
No indoor meetings can be held.  
4. Officer Training 
All officer Training must be delivered online. Outdoor coaching education courses are not permitted. 
5. Club Bars 
Club Bars must remain closed until the current restrictions are lifted. 
6. Indoor Events on GAA Property 
No organised indoor gatherings can take place under the current restrictions. 
Commercial use of indoor halls (for example by state bodies – e.g. HSE/Schools is permitted where agreement was in 
place prior to March and relevant insurance are in place. These are the only instances in which indoor activity is permitted on GAA Club property. 
7. Outdoor Events on GAA Property 
No outdoor gatherings on GAA property are permitted. 
Exception: Walkways may stay open for use by the community with social distancing in place.

Derek Daly Memorial Walk/Run/Cycle

All weekend walkers,  runners and cyclists were clocking up the kilometers and submitting their  photos  to the Garrycastle website and also making a donation all in aid of Garrycastle GAA and the National Training Network. Thanks to everyone who took part.

The third generation of the Nugent family has graduated to play inter county football. Grandad Seamus and Dad Enda, both played for Westmeath and at the weekend Enda's son Bobby won a provincial minor title with Roscommon. Congratulations to Bobby on this great achievement and the best of luck in the All Ireland series.

Under 8 - Westmeath Beko Club Champions

Garrycastle under 8 team have been selected as the Westmeath winners of the Beko club champions competition. Their entry was a re-enactment of Seams Darby s famous winning  goal for Offaly preventing Kerry getting five in a row. Well done to the team and management and to whoever thought of the idea.

Hard Luck Westmeath Ladies

Hard Luck to Westmeath senior ladies team which included Garrycastle players, Lorraine Duncan, Grace Halligan, Sarah Dolan and Alice Connolly,  who lost out to Meath in the All Ireland Intermediate final on Sunday last after a tough battle. It was only in the latter stages of the game that Meath edged ahead.
