Club Clothes Collection - Fundraiser

If you have any unwanted clothes, shoes or bags, Garrycastle Club are currently doing a clothes collection. You can drop bags of clothes to Garrycastle clubhouse next Mon 11th, Tue 12th or Wed 13th from 9am - 4.30pm or evenings of Wed 13th - Fri 15th from 7pm - 8pm or before 12 noon on Sat 16th.  Please support & use the opportunity for a good clear out before Christmas. 

Club Hero

A special event was held at the Kid’s Christmas Party. A club hero award was presented to a special boy for his great act of kindness when he donated bone marrow to his cousin who is unwell. The hero in question, under 8 player, Scott Lowe was presented with a certificate, a trophy and a jersey by club chairman, Michael Mannion, under 8 manager Michael Mulvihill and former senior player, Gary Dolan.  

Kid’s Christmas Party

On Monday evening last the kid’s Christmas Party was held with Santa himself present. All the children present met Santa, danced and played games. All had a  great time.

The scor finals have been held and while our participants performed very well we had no qualifiers. Well done to Kilian Redmond, Oisin Nugent, Corey Nugent, Emma Flannery and Fionan Canty and to the backroom team of Ellen Glennon and Great to see Garrycastle back competing in scor and this year’s experience will stand to the competitors in futures years.  Well done to all.

CANCELLED: Old Folks Christmas Dinner

Please note that the annual Garrycastle GAA Club Old Folk's Christmas dinner, planned for today, Sunday December 10th, is CANCELLED due to the severe weather conditions. We will organise it again at a later date. We are sorry for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause.

The club wishes St Lomans the best of luck in the re-arranged Leinster club final on Sunday and hoping that they will bring another Leinster title to Westmeath.

Sorry to hear that local Coaching & Games organiser, Eddie Bouabse, is moving on to new pastures after working for many years in Westmeath, primarily in the Athlone area. The club wishes to thank Eddie for his help in progressing coaching in the club and wishes the best of luck in his new role in St Olaf’s club Dublin.

Club Development

Great news was received on the development front during the week when the club got a sports development grant which allows work on the development of an astro turf/training area to begin. The club expresses gratitude to all who helped with the application process and thanks Minister Kevin “Boxer” Moran for his help throughout the year.
