A2B - Athlone Business Booster

posted by Matthew Ryan

A new online fundraising campaign has been set up by Michael Fagan to raise funds for local

businesses in Athlone. The aim of the fundraiser is to raise some money for nominated Athlone

businesses who have lost some or all of their business due to the  shutdown enforced by the virus.

This is non profit making and the funds raised will be given to the nominated businesses

to help them over this bleak period and to get started again when the lockdown is over. Check out

A2B on Facebook/Instagram and see how you can win one of many prizes over the next 5 weeks and

also help to support local businesses. As many of the nominated businesses have sponsored

Garrycastle we urge our members to support this venture.

Continuing our commitment to assist the elderly and vulnerable in the community in any way we can, we have recently been in contact with the local Garda Community Officer who can arrange a house visit by a member of the Gardai during their rounds to give reassurance and assistance to people in need.

If you feel you would benefit from this, or know someone elderly/vulnerable/living on their own who would, if even just a visit to check in and say hello, please contact our Club Chairman Michael Mannion who is a delegate to pass on the details. Michael can be contacted on 087 8031137.

We urge our members to  follow the Government s instructions  strictly - stay at home, wash hands etc. Strict adherence to the rules will save lives and get our lives back to normal as soon as possible.
