Eoin Mulvihill Jason Nugent and Brian Ruane played on the Westmeath U17 team on Saturday last that beat Roscommon by 1-15 to 0-12 in a pre championship challenge.  Well done boys.

Also well done to Dylan Keegan who played at midfield on Westmeath under 16 game in a recent challenge game versus Galway, a game which Galway won narrowly.

Under 10

Garrycastle u10s had a fantastic evening out in Castledaly on Tuesday 9th. We were delighted to have a panel of 30, which meant we were able to field 3 teams. Each of our 3 teams performed brilliantly in all matches and were a credit to our club. All 30 players got loads of game time and enjoyed very competitive matches against teams from  Maryland/Tang, Moate, Castledaly and Rosemount. Our hard work in training is really starting to pay off. The tackling, blocking, passing, decision making and score taking really was a joy to watch. This talented and determined panel of players are continuing to improve with every week. We will continue to have fun and train hard and we look forward to our next blitz. Thanks to Castledaly GAA for a very enjoyable evening.

Garrycastle panel included:-  Cian Norris, Oisin O'Donoghue, Christopher Malone, Daniel Stankard, Dylan Frawley, James McHugh, Aaron Keegan, Andrew Henson, Tyreece Quinn, Keelan Ward, Rhys Larkin, Luke Quilty, Dylan Maloney, Calum Hudson, Van McCay, Darragh Glennon, Senan Nugent, Níadh Shine, Oisin Mulvihill, Keelan McNamara, Louie Shine, Jack Dowling, Jack Dolan, Conor McCormack, Ronan Croughan, James Derwin, Maireid McBride, Fionn McMahon, Rían Gaynor, Darren Mulligan.

Alan Reidy RIP

posted 15 May 2017, 07:37 by Matthew Ryan

It was with great sadness that the club learned of the death of Alan Reidy who had played in goals on the Garrycastle team that won the 1993 Westmeath Junior Championship. Alan played intermediate championship the following year reaching the semi final.  Soon after he was transferred from Athlone to Dublin by his employer, Dunnes Stores. Alan subsequently moved  to Cork where his untimely death occurred.  Alan was an excellent player and was also a good friend to the club.  Deepest sympathies are extended to his wife and family.  Go ndeana Dia trocaire are a anam.
