The Jackpot was not won. 

There were two Match-3 winners this week, each of whom receives €100.

Club Re-opening

Club re-opening In line with the latest advice from the Government, the HSE and the GAA, Garrycastle GAA Club is starting to re-open after the long Covid-19 closure. Adult teams started back training  last week, and the underage teams go back this week. All players and parents/guardians are being contacted with details on when training resumes, and the new guidelines covering players attending the club.

Under 9 and 11 Boys

Our Under 9 and Under 11 Boys teams will return to training on Sunday 5th July at 11am  - under 9s  on the Astroturf and under 11s on  training area 1 (behind clubhouse).

We ask all parents/guardians to please complete the Gaa Return To Play eLearning module and send a screenshot of cert to the team manager. The form can  be got at https://courses.gaa.ie/Covid19ClubEd.


Also, the GAA have introduced a Health Check so you must register on the following site and then indicate (on the site) before every training that there is no change in players health status https://returntoplay.gaa.ie.


Managers of U9 and U11 teams will be in contact with parents and guardians of players, and we again thank everyone

for their co-operation as we continue to provide Gaelic football in a fun, friendly and safe environment.

Walking Track

Details will follow later regarding the use of the walking track around the pitch, use of the astroturf and so on, and these will be published on the clubs communications channels once the details are finalised. Championship draws

Under a changed system designed to get competitions played this year the draws for the new look championship were made last Sunday evening. In the senior championship Garrycastle play neighbours Athlone and then will meet neighbours Caulry with the top two qualifying for quarter finals and the bottom team going into a relegation play off. In the junior championship Garrycastle have Castletown/Finea/Coole/Whitehall and Ballinagore in the group.

Club Notice : Resumption of Training

Following GAA guidelines and phased re-opening, Garrycastle GAA club is open for training from June 26th for Adult teams and June 28th for Juvenile/Underage teams. Based on the GAA Safe Return Guidelines circulated to players and Parents/Guardians, players will be required to complete an eLearning module which will outline risks of COVID-19 and the behaviours expected as outlined by the HSE.

These behaviours include:

Washing Hands, Safe Distancing, Good cough/sneezing hygiene, regular disinfection of equipment and not sharing personal equipment like water bottles.

A Health Questionnaire must be filled out before returning to training.

A Covid Supervisor will be appointed for each team and will be responsible to ensure that GAA Safe Return Guidelines are followed.

All parents/guardians are encouraged to support the GAA Safe Return by completing the questionnaire for Juvenile players in a timely manner in advance of training.

Timpeall na Tire

It was with pleasure that the organisers of Timpeall na Tire fundraiser handed over €5,300 to both Athlone meals on Wheels and the heart and stroke charity, Croi. Again many thanks to all who supported those very worthy causes.  Well done to orgabisers Sarah Dolan and Doron Harte.

The club extends deepest sympathy to the Lynchehaun family Garnafeile on the death of Margaret.  Also the GAA community was shocked to hear of the death of one of its own, Detective Garda Colm Horkan. Deepest sympathy to his family.
